The Youth Sport Research (YSR) group is focused on research which aims to understand the sport and PE experiences of young people. This is primarily through engaging in research which examines policy making and practice in youth sport and PE settings. This includes the following themes, youth sport & PE policy; inclusion within youth sport & PE practices; and pedagogy within school and youth sport settings.
Current research is focused on the following areas:
- PE policy and the impact of partnerships on working practices within schools
- The impact of a Lincolnshire initiative on the gifted and talented development of youth sport performers
- The impact of playground markings on physical activity and play behaviors of primary school children
- The PE experiences of children with impairments in mainstream schools
